Holy Island is a nature reserve of international importance and has a rich history with its eighth century celtic c hristian priory and subsequent Viking raids. It has a vibrant village with visitor facilities.
The house is a traditional eighteenth century fisherman's cottage with a large modern extension all finished off to a high standard. It has three bedrooms, two doubles and one single, sleeping five. There are fantastic views from the living room and all bedrooms. There is a large, sheltered and secluded garden.
The front door leads through a passage into the large kitchen/diner with beamed ceiling and an old feature fireplace which is not in use.
Going out the back of the kitchen through a passage is the large living room with a window wall looking out over the garden and beyond to the harbour, castle and over the sea to the farne islands. A sliding window/door gives access down steps to the garden.
The main bathroom is off the passage between the kitchen and living room. It has a walk-in shower.
Upstairs the balcony bedroom has a balcony with even better views than the living room. It has a double bed with a comfortable and firm futon type mattress.
The loft bedroom upstairs has an ensuite bathroom with bath and over the bath shower. It has oak beams and stripped floorboards and a comfortable, soft double bed. The two windows look over farmland to the north shore.
Downstairs there is a single bedroom with views to the harbour.
The mature garden is large, sheltered and secluded.
Heating is via an air source heat pump so there is no need for a carbon monoxide sensor. To add to the houses eco credentials there are above average levels of insulation and triple glazed picture windows.
The house is well equipped with everything you need to enjoy your holiday.
We welcome one well behaved dog but please restrict them to downstairs where there is hard flooring and do not let your dog onto the soft furnishings.
As the house has an internal step from the kitchen it is not suited to wheelchair use.
There is space at the front door for parking one car. Please do not impinge on the neighbour’s space as there is just enough room for each house. Any extra cars can be parked on the road at the gable end of the house.
Terms and Conditions
A 10% deposit is required to secure your booking. This deposit is non-returnable. The balance is due one month before entry. If cancelled after this the balance will only be returned (less a handling fee) if we can get another booking.
We need to know the number of guests on booking. We cannot accommodate more people than there are beds for (except a baby/toddler in a travel cot which we know about).
We expect our guests to respect the property and the neighbours. This is a quiet, peaceful residential village.
There is strictly no smoking in the house and garden
